I’m back! I’ve been sewing whenever I can, but I’ve had no time to blog. Love, love, love this dress. I found the fabric on Marcy Tilton’s site and ordered two repeats immediately! Good thing since it was gone the next time I looked.
It’s a digital print on the softest piece of medium-light weight french terry. Seriously, french terry…I could wear this dress to the beach and then a dinner party and not skip a beat. Yes it shows my dreaded arms, but my BSF has convinced me that it gets too hot to always cover up. I might make a little cover up jacket for cool evenings with Marcy’s Vogue 9081 pattern, but I hate to cover up the statue that is peeking out on my left shoulder.
The pattern is self drafted from a knit dress I own, and then I modified it to have cap sleeves to protect my pale shoulders. The other modification is the asymmetrical neckline that helps emphasize Venus on my shoulder.
Venus ended up on my left shoulder on the back too!
You are a wizard with thread and fabric! I’ve just taken a self-guided tour through some of the posts I’d missed and now I have a question . . . Are you going to open a boutique? So many arty pieces do a collection make :).
I love what you did with this print. Enjoy wearing it. Will miss you in Ashland.,
Love dress pattern, fabric, and model!
Wow – exquisite! AND you wear it well!
WOW! What a fabulous print for a simple yet stunning dress! I love the neckline and drape of the fabric. Your radiant glow, beautiful smile and artistry outshine whatever “flaws” that you’re aware of. I share those same issues as well but chalk it up to getting older. So wear your dress with pride and please don’t worry about covering your arms with a shrug. Your work is inspiring so please continue sharing your passion. Thanks so much 🙂
Fab dress. The material really highlights your coloring.
Stunner! That neckline is gorgeous!
You look like Venus herself in this! It’s a shame you feel so lowly of your arms. They look perfect to me. 🙂
Absolutely stunning! The hair, the dress, the fabric, the body!
Wow! This is very cool on your Wendy! You are going to be turning heads in this little number- XOXODIane
Ha, thanks! I do feel pretty hot in this dress…
Stunning dress! I also used this material to make a short jacket! Marcy posted pictures of it on her FB page last week. Love her fabric, got to grab it when you see it, her stuff goes fast!😊
I found it, and it’s fab. Isn’t amazing how different a fabric looks depending on the pattern?
I know it is amazing! I have to say Marcy’s fabric have gotten me enthusiastic about sewing again, she has the best!
Wow. That dress looks great on you. Love the neckline. Great job as always. Can’t wait to feel the fabric. Miss you😀we are heading back soon. Mark and Madi are graduating. Save the date of May 16th. Probably an evening party🎶🎓we are still ironing out the details
You sure look great in the face! Hope you find a beach party! You’re right that can go anywhere….to groc, vote, socially feeling…I am so silly…..wrong kind of humor for my neighbors….Love, Mom
Beautiful dress, with your coloring it’s gorgeous. Have you figured out how to put a sleeve on Marcy Tilton’s latest little dress with the upstanding collar? Just looking for hints!
i can’t wait to make that pattern…now you’ve given me a challenge!
Wendy and Venus a perfect duo…great dress.
wow, one of those rare dresses that looks as fabulous from the back as the front, I think its the peeking Venus. I suspect you are your poor arms worst/only critic…….possibly some coordinating Venus themed fabric for a shrug?
Great idea…I may have to do some printing to find a Venus fabric!
This is my favorite Wendy and it looks fabulous on you. And your arms? thank goodness for your BSF is all I am going to say on that! The fabric, style, color and cut are all just to die for!!
